AIMS AND GOALS

WHY GILWELL?

Gilwell Education System (Gilwell Method) , which has been applied almost all over the world since 1919  It found application in Turkey from the beginning of the 1950s.

The first Wood Badge course opened in Turkey dates back to 1954.

Even though it has been a long time, like seventy years, the Gilwell Education System continues to be alive and effective.

Despite the fact that it was developed over time in many developed countries and adapted to the spirit of the period, those responsible for Gilwell Education in Turkey unfortunately ignored this situation.

It happened. It's time to look ahead.

Since the middle of last year (2021), the Gilwell Education System has a  group by a Scout Leader with a 4 Board Sign and a volunteer whose profession is education.  It was reviewed,  harmonized with the world and adapted to the conditions of our country.

The Gilwell Method, which is not a static but a dynamic system, will continue to be constantly updated under the umbrella of the Gilwell Association.

We know that people are temporary, but systems that can renew themselves over time are permanent.

We hope and wish that we can preserve the Gilwell Education System developed by Baden Powell and his friends and adapt it to the conditions of our country.

OBJECTIVE AND TARGET

The primary purpose of the Gilwell Association is to bring Scout Leaders together with the Gilwell Method in line with evolving needs. It is to make them do their unit work more consciously.

The Gilwell Method is "dynamic", not "static".

It adopts that in parallel with the changing world, the stance of children, youth and Scouts on the world should also change along with it.

Gilwell Turkey sees and understands that it is necessary to keep up with the changes of the age, and that Scouting should be done as a civil society movement and even beyond.

Gilwell Turkey, following the breathing of World Scouting, tries to ensure that Scouting, which is practiced in developed countries, is implemented locally and in Turkey, and in this way, it tries to be the lifeblood of Scout Leaders and our children and youth through them.

HOW TO WORK

Gilwell Association's staff consists of self-trained leaders and leaders who received the Wood Badge before the association was founded.

The majority of these leaders are active leaders who continue to run Scout Units. As such, they have first-hand the opportunity to develop plans to see the evolving needs, discourses and behavior patterns of children.

In addition to the active leaders that the association relies on, there are also "education and program development" units. In these units, the basic principles of Scouting and information from the field overlap. Thus, a modern education system and program has been reached.

Another important aim of the association is to be a "social club". Gilwell Turkey, which will gather all leaders who have received Gilwell Education under its roof, while trying to keep the Scouting Fire alive in general, among those who have grown from this hearth.  aims to maintain communication and the Scout Brotherhood.

In line with this purpose, Gilwell Association, which accepts all certificates obtained before, from abroad, internally or from National Education or Youth and Sports, has started to create a comprehensive GILWELLI LEADER BOOK REGISTRATION.

It is not necessary to be a member of the Gilwell Society to register in this book. To be a part of a whole, to be informed about the developments, to participate in our social activities, please register your self.

On this occasion, we send you all our best Scouting wishes.

GILWELL TURKEY 1954

Baden Powell, the creator of the Scouting Method and the author of the book "Scouting for Boys", developed the Gilwell Education System in Gilwell Park, London. The system takes its name from this park.
