February 22nd Thought Day celebrated

FIRST EVENT OF THE GILWELL ASSOCIATION

GILWELL TURKEY , taking action to be a fresh blood for Turkey Scouting

The first event he held was “22 February Thinking Day Celebration”.

Mehmet Murat Tahtalı, Secretary General of GILWELL TURKEY, attended by the presidents of the three federations. In the event, which was moderated by GILWELL TURKEY's Vice President, Nihal Basarir He gave a speech on the meaning and importance of the day.

The speeches made by Duran Yurdungülü, Chairman of the Board of the All Scouts Federation, and Hakan Külah, the President of the Anatolian Scouting Federation, on “Thought Day and Scouting in Turkey” were watched with interest by around a hundred Scouts and Leaders.

Contributing to the night with the instruments they played and the songs they sang, the Scouts also sang their good wishes.

The closing speech was made by GILWELL TURKEY President Cengiz Çekdemir. In summary, Çekdemir wished to "live in a world without war".

GILWELL TURKEY will continue to contribute to the development of Turkey Scouting with various activities in the coming days.

EXHIBITION OF SCOUTING COLLECTIONS FROM PAST N TO PRESENT

In the week of February 22, 2022, which coincides with the World Scout Thought and Founder's Day, on the occasion of this special day, Scouting Volunteers Association collects stamps, stamps, envelopes, postcards, ephemera, objects, photographs, emblems, etc. brought together. Objects to be exhibited in a certain order and in a meaningful whole are exhibited to create a strong knowledge for the future.

This exhibition is not a competition, it is aimed to contribute to the promotion of scouting, collecting, universality and historical richness with a common educational sharing. The exhibition will remain open for 2 weeks, and it is aimed to reopen in different venues by enriching it with new information and materials collected for subsequent exhibitions.

“Thought Day” Meeting with our three federation presidents

THINK GOOD BE GOOD

February 22 is celebrated as "Thought Day" by Scouts all over the world. On the occasion of this important day, the Scouts establish friendships with each other and send their good thoughts to each other.

“Day of Thought” is a day of love, friendship, solidarity, cooperation, in short, “Brotherhood”.

As Gilwell Association, we decided to bring together the presidents of the three most distinguished federations of Turkey on this very special day and share their “good wishes” with the Scouting public.

The idea of “Thought Day” was originally put forward to celebrate Baden Powel's birthday. The World Scouts conceived the idea as the joint birthday of BP and his wife, Olave Powell, to mean "connectedness" over time. That day is today, this important date is recorded underlined in calendars by all Scouts around the world.

Gilwell Association chose the theme of "THINK GOOD WELL" this year for the 22 February celebration, in which the presidents of TIF (Federation of All Scouts), KAPIF (Cappadocia Scouting Federation) and AIF (Anatolian Scouting Federation) will attend as speakers.

We are already starting to wonder what the leaders of Mr. Duran Yurdungülü (TİF), Mr. Haydar Rayman (KAPİF) and Mr. Hakan Külah (AİF) will say on the “Day of Thought”.

The link of the "THINK GOOD FEEL GOOD" meeting, which will take place on one of the digital platforms on the evening of February 22, starting at 20.00, will be shared with the Scouting community in the coming days.

On this occasion, we send our best Scouting wishes to all Scouts.

GILWELL TURKEY AT WORK

The first “Educational Leaders Meeting” organized by the Gilwell Association took place yesterday evening (January 30).

The common opinion of Scouting veterans from various provinces of Turkey and members of different federations was that "Gilwell Education", which is considered the spirit of Scouting, should be given priority immediately, and that courses such as 2, 3, 4 Board should be opened by updating the curriculum, and that it should be continuous.

After the presentation speech of the President of the Association, Cengiz Çekdemir, in which he explained the “foundation reasons, aims and objectives of the association”, Secretary General Mehmet Murat Tahtalı made a presentation on “with whom, how and when to meet in order to meet the need for an educator leader of the Scouting in Turkey.

The results of the meeting, where all participants expressed their thoughts and gave guiding speeches, will be compiled and announced to the Gilwell Platform members and the Scouting Public, in line with the program presented to the participants.

It was felt from the speeches that the participants needed the Gilwell Association seriously and that if the plans were implemented and the targets were met, it would lead to visible changes in Turkey Scouting.

GILWELL ASSOCIATION FOUNDED
