With a small group of closely-knit Scout leaders,
the work we have done for a long time has taken on flesh and bone
and the result of the Gilwell Society
as given.
How we got to this point and after this stage we

WHERE DID IT COME OUT OF?

Unfortunately, our corporate structure did not exist until today.
From the 1950s to the early 2000s, Scouting, which continued its activities as a state institution and adhered to the political mechanism, sometimes went to institutional structures with the individual initiatives of the prominent leaders of the period. Since these structures could not become permanent as non-governmental organizations, they were scattered over time and gradually disappeared.
We know that western countries, which foresaw in the 50s that becoming an instrument of the state and political mechanisms would lead to such impasses, began to describe Scouting as a non-governmental organization more and more every day. As Turkey Scouts, we unfortunately missed these winds, for some reason we were never taken on ourselves.
In the twenty-year period that we are about to leave behind, we have experienced the importance of the “state of being disorganized as a civil society institution” by experiencing it from the first degree and feeling it deeply. We are faced with devastating consequences.
THEORY AND PRACTICE
Fortunately, Scouting is on the line!
We rolled up our sleeves and managed to get organized first as sporadic associations and then as federations. We have Scout communities that continue to work in units and groups. All this gives us hope.
We strongly believe that in the very near future, we will create the Great Turkey Scouting from its ashes.
On the other hand, during the twenty-year period we have mentioned, we have come to feel the lack of a "theoretical background" with every step we take.
Undoubtedly, Scouting is an education system with a definite beginning, middle and end. It has been like this since 1907 in the world, and since 1912 in our country. On the other hand, it is also dynamic. It also owes its durability to flowing time.
So, Scouting has to renew and develop itself day by day according to the changes that have taken place in our country as well as in other developed countries.
If you want, let's not prolong this important point here, let's let it rest in order to discuss it in depth in the works we will do in the coming days.
While we were working on the "Scouting Strategy Document" that we mentioned at the beginning of our article, we also discussed the subject of "Educational Leadership" in Scouting. We went deep into our education system, which is applied all over the world under the name of the Gilwell Method.
Our research pointed out that Turkey urgently needs a Gilwell organization as a non-governmental organization!
WHAT WILL THE GILWELL ASSOCIATION DO?
With this in mind, we wrote the Gilwell Handbook, developed the Gilwell Code and took legal action. Our attempts were accepted. Our brand has been registered.
Now, there is a Gilwell Association, which is concerned about the scientific infrastructure of Scouting in Turkey, and puts its leaders and educator leaders in the forefront as a job.
Now let's come to what our newly mentioned association will do:
As the name suggests, the Gilwell Association was formed for Scout leaders of two boards and above. In other words, those who want to become a member of our association must have received at least two board training. This means that they have stepped into being an educational leader, in other words, thinking and working on the Gilwell Method, which is the spirit of Scouting.
Again, as the name suggests, Gilwell Association aims to ensure that the Gilwell Method is implemented in Turkey. This means the development and implementation of all training and teachings on the two boards and above.
On the other hand, of course, our subject is Scouting in the most general sense. If this is the case, the Gilwell Association has to worry about training Scout leaders at all levels, starting with Obabaşı, and eliminating the deficiencies in both teaching and leader training in branches such as Sea and Air Scouting.
WHO OWNS THE GILWELL ASSOCIATION?
The founders of the Gilwell Society are people who have fortunately had the opportunity to come together. Scout leaders, whose paths crossed for various reasons, first got into trouble and then asked, "What can we do?" It is a thought, a solution they produce.
The original owners of the Gilwell Society are all Scout leaders certified in two board courses, no matter where or when.
We call them the “Gilwellians” and think they are the original owners of
the Gilwell Society.
Yes, the true owners of the Gilwell Society, members or not, are all Scout
leaders who have had something to say, two board courses and above.
NEXT STEPS

Gilwell Association is also a social solidarity club.
